My path to GNU/Linux Lite

My first GNU/Linux "flavour" was the RedHat - it could be found for free over the web (around 1992) and yes, it was a pure Kernel version (sweeeet!).

We were still using 8-inch, 5¼-inch, and 3½-inch floppy disks. Amazing times!

Well, let's say that the Windows MS-DOS came to be my also first OS - for PASCAL coding and games like Doom and the Microsoft Windows 95 was there!

1995 - 1999 - Dial-up internet, Flight Simulator 95, Paint Brush, NetMeeting, Altavista Search, ICQ, IRC, Netscape, IE 4.0 and other things like chat providers was the top social exchange at this time. If you don't remember, it was a web application with lots of "Chat Rooms" for a maximum number of people logged at the same time (average of 15-30 people per chat room).

Webdesign HTML and JavaScript became part of my knowledge base.

I'm not quoting Apple here because it simply wasn't part of my computer starting era. Everything was too expensive.

2000 - C, C++ and Delphi programming and computers architecture classes.

With the time I've quickly learned how to create a dual boot for Linux and Windows. I would use both for the next few years.

The Macromedia Flash (Action Script - Love it) and Fireworks was there too in 2002, Microsoft was the top of the spear. The Sun Microsystems Java programming language became also part of my know-how.

And...Long, long, long time later in 2005 while doing my Computer Science college, the Linux Ubuntu called my attention by being really what they said: "Linux For Humans". I'm not saying that Ubuntu is like past, but personally I don't like its new interface and code now in 2017.

In 2007 I did the Microsoft Visual Studio C# and .NET bootcamp. Loved but Java was my favorite. Linux Mint now was calling my attention with it's "freedom came elegance" - it was light and very fast, but now in 2017 - no.

The best Windows releases: Win 95, Win 98, Win XP, Win 7, Win 10.

So, here we are with what is known as the most light weight and yet - powerful GNU/Linux flavor in 2017: The Linux Lite
